We have pending issues first!

Vernacular architecture
Where did 'vernacular' come from?
Use of word 'vernacular'  was first applied to languages.
In migration of people into cities from different obscure, rural or urban areas in search of better economic opportunites, people have their language first and later  they carry the baggage of their vernacular architecture in sense of belongingness, so well etched in their minds which they can apply as situation demands. Vernacular architecture is living architecture in sense of direct application and movement into any art form.

Does it have a role in the present time of changing order? As a note of world survey in housing conditions; more population of the world is being roofed under merely a fundamental shelter out of vernacular architecture set up by general strata of people of different regions of the world than on any other model so far having succeeded.

It is originally local and regional, in sense of its working to geographical position, climate, people and a way of lifestyle.

Conclusively it ends up serving the local needs of group of people, populace largely in their shelter form in the strictest sense.

Vernacular architecture is somewhat limited to domesticity. It is employing directly indigenous method of construction, organization of spaces and other cultural manifestations handed over through generations to the present era.

It's most urgent role in sense of human shelter  forms  the closest link with the prehistoric times and  subsequently evolution of human settlement and domestic needs.

It is temporary in sense of structural component and its strength, use of material, constructional methodology in comparison to the modern counterpart and technology.

We talked of labour which come to the cities, with their background untrained to modern construction methodology, but we mold ourselves to their way of working because of economic and social reasons. The so called labour totally versed in their vernacular building skills contribute to all the aesthetic embellishment  of our built environment with their craftsmenship, be it moulding the colonial cornices, the wooden screen carvings, ethnic hand crafted textiles etc. This import of vernacular architecture into cities in bits and pieces is still integral part of built environment in varying conditions with a large hinterland of unexplored craftsmanship resting through ages in this world. That's the vernacular strains or inroads we have in the cities everywhere. We live in multi layered cultural environment where retention of vernacular architecture is of dire necessity for the balanced growth of economy even.

Next, what are intervening ideas from architects in vernacular architecture?
